Friday, May 14th 2021 – Friday’s Open House in front of City Hall presented a great opportunity for public input and engagement with the vision and goals of the General Plan. Around ~15 residents and city officials participated.
Upon arrival, attendees were given a roll of pennies to divide between stations for each goal within the 2021 General Plan Draft, according to their personal priorities. Goals fall into the four element categories — circulation, housing, land use and safety.

Some initial trends from the penny poll– fostering economic development through land use planning, improving transportation infrastructure and improving existing housing stock all stood out as priorities among residents. A penny poll is by no means the chief element of public outreach efforts — but this was a fun and interactive way to get the conversation started!
